INDICATIONS:

BIOMEC 10 mg/ml injection solution is indicated for the effective treatment and prevention of spreading of the following parasitic diseases:

Cattle:

Gastrointestinal round worms (both imagos and developmental stages)
Ostertagia ostertagi (including inhibited larvae)
Ostertagia lyrata
Haemonchus placei
Trichostrongylus axei
Trichostrongylus colubriformis
Cooperia oncophora

C. punctata
C. pectinata
Oesophagostomum radiatum
Bunostomum phlebotomum
Nematodirus helvetianus (imagos)
N. spathiger (imagos)
Eye helminths: Thelazia spp. (imagos) Warble flies (parasitic stages):
Hypoderma bovis Hypoderma lineatum

Mites:

Psoroptes bovis Sarcoptes scabiei var. bovis

Lice:

Linognathus vituli
Haematopinus eurysternus

BIOMEC 10 mg/ml inj. can be used as an adjuvant to avoid spreading of bird-lice (Damalinia bovis) and mite (Chorioptes bovis); nevertheless their full elimination is not guaranteed.

Efficacy in cattle:

BIOMEC 10 mg/ml inj. when administered at the recommended dose of 1 ml/50 kg of body weight, provides the effective prevention of spreading of Haemonchus placei and Trichostrongylus axei for 14 days, Ostertagia ostertagi radiatum for 21 days and Dictylocaulus viviparus for 28 days since the administration.

(1) For treatment of sheep scabies induced by Psoroptes, the injection is administered twice at the interval of 7 days. The single application can only reduce the number of mites and thus create the impression that the clinical scabies has been eradicated.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

The product shall be administered subcutaneously only.
Never administer the product intravenously or intramuscularly.
Never administer the product during lactation.
Do not administer the product during lactation and 28 days before delivery in animals intended for human consumption.

ADVERSE REACTIONS:

Temporary disorders are reported in some animals after the subcutaneous administration. Soft tissue swellings may be observed rarely. The reactions mentioned disappear spontaneously.

TARGET SPECIES:

Cattle, sheep, pig.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

Cattle:

The product shall be administered exclusively at the dose of 1 ml/50 kg of body weight (corresponding to the recommended dose of 0.2 mg of ivermectin/kg of body weight). The product shall be applied subcutaneously into a loose skin behind or before the blade-bone.
In case of subcutaneous warble-fly scirrhuses the cattle shall be treated as soon as possible after warble-fly invasion is ended.

Sheep:

The product shall be administered exclusively at the dose of 0.5 ml/25 kg of body weight (corresponding to the recommended dose of 0.2 mg of ivermectin/kg of body weight). The product shall be applied subcutaneously into a loose skin between shoulders. In sheep before shearing, ensure before the administration whether a needle penetrated through fleece and skin.
For treatment of sheep scabies induced by Psoroptes, the injection is administered twice at the interval of 7 days.

Pig:

BIOMEC 10 mg/ml injection solution shall be administered exclusively subcutaneously at the neck region at the recommended dose of 1 ml per 33 kg of body weight (corresponding to 0.3 mg of ivermectin per kg of body weight).
The solution may be administered using any standard automatic doser or injection syringe.
For treatment of sheep scabies induced by Psoroptes, the injection is administered twice at the interval of 7 days.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD:

Meat – Cattle, sheep, pigs: 28 days
Milk – The product shall not be administered to animals intended for human consumption 28 days before delivery and during lactation.

Special storage precautions:

Protect from light.
Shelf-life after first opening the immediate packaging 28 days.
